Was having a conversation with a coworker about guns, and he misinterpreted me in thinking I didn't like shotguns. I said to him, "no, I really like shotguns, they are very versatile firearms, but on the best of days you are only going to be effective out to about 150 yards or so (with slugs), I believe in having a 3 gun approach to everything."
He asked what I mean, and I reply, "well a pistol is only good for having something you can fight with until you can get to a real gun, and as much as I like my shotgun, you never know when someone is going to piss you off from 1000 yards away. So for that, I prefer a long ranged hole-puncher."
Just sayin', ticket punching isn't always a short range business.
