Rachael Kylie

So, where to start?  Other than being chaotic and frustrating, my weekend was somewhat uneventful.  Perhaps the most interesting thing of note to happen was that I ended up spending all sorts of money on Thursday, thinking I had disposable income, only to discover on Sunday that the clutch on my car has decided to start working about well as the average TSA agent.  Ain't all that just roses and peaches?

One thing I did forget to mention, was that a friend of mine has finally released a single that is available for download on itunes.  Despite the fact that it's only available on that terrible communistic website, I highly recommend going over there and spending the one dollar for the song, because it's so dang good, it's more than worth it.

So, what are you doing here?  What are you waiting for?  Go get it.  Now.  Really.

Voodoo doll

So, my weekend is so close, I can taste it's stale aroma already.  Everytime it comes around, I never seem to be satisfied with it.  I have this unescapable and nagging feeling like I'm missing out on something.  This happens regardless of what function I go to, whether I'm with friends, just alone, or where I go or don't go.  I feel like every weekend is one big catch-22 that is scheduled to start repeating every Friday.

On a lighter note, I had a coworker tell me about the most ridiculous doghnut shop I've ever heard of before.  But don't take my word for it, go check it out: http://voodoodoughnut.com/menu.php.  I just hope the're made with real voodoo.

Though, whenever I hear the word voodoo, this is inevitably the first thing that comes to my mind:

Odd wing mounting on this baby....

My yapper

So, I was telling someone earlier this morning how my week has been fairly droll, then it seems no sooner had I said it, things suddenly became much more exciting in an "I hate everything" kind of way.

First, I find out that there's way more to do at work then usual (not too bad of news, but still), followed by my discovery that Cryptic's servers has been hacked (again!), albeit this time with users names and password being leaked (who's accounts have credit cards attached to them).  Then compound that I may have ended up wasting a bunch of money, and that the whole day I've been carrying feelings like I'm beginning to feel sick to the stomach.   Oh, and tack on the now disturbing noises going on outside, that overtly resemble that of a carjacking.

So yeah.  Today has a bit of a mark on it so far.  Heck, I'm thinking there may be only one thing to cheer me up, but I know that's not happening today, or possibly even tomorrow.

What the flying fudgesicle?

So, I had another one of those epic conversational moments at work today.  As soon as I walked in the door this morning, there was a conversation going back and forth between a young and recently engaged coworker and one of our network admins, who was trying to point out that his life will drastically change once he's married and that he'll never be able to buy guns again, and that he should stock up now.

The youngin' asks, "So, I should buy another Glock?"
Our Admin replies "No! Not another one of those freaking Glocks!"
when I interject with, "Hey!  Did you just Glock-block him?"
To which everyone starts cracking up, and our Admin manages to spurt between laughs, "What!?!?"
"Seriously, man.  You're supposed to be guiding his Glock, not blocking it!"

Well done

So, I have determined that, for me, the most satisfying feeling of personal accomplishment comes when I google my own name, and get absolutely no results that have anything to do with me*.  Mission accomplished.  Seriously, in this day in age there is no true privacy, however I'm glad to know that anyone who attempts find out anything about me will have to work harder than that to get any legit info.
Also you might notice a new slogan at the top of the blog, and if you manage to decipher it without any help of any kind, well I say to you, si hoc legere potes nimium eruditionis habes!

*It's funny to note that googling St.Grendel on the other hand, yields some pretty detailed results.

Special occasions

Yeah, I know I haven't been very talkative, or even descriptive in this blog for the past little while.  I've kinda been tossing up some gimmick posts just to let everyone know I'm not dead.  So, that being said, this is another one of those posts.  Insanely funny and applicable to me as well.

Thanks again for the free post, 9gag.

Because apparantly I'm a total opera snob

Update:

So, even though it's not the day I usually post music, I figured that this would do, considering the events of the weekend and all (I went to an opera; though if they're in English I say they don't count).  The performance was great, and I had a really good time.  Though I'm surprised at how many of my friends thought I wouldn't be into such things, even though I could have sworn I've mentioned my fondness for it to them before.

I was especially lucky in that the person who invited me to attend this little function is quite possibly the classiest lady I have ever met.  I felt a little whiskey-tango, and bit of a blabbering fool, but I'd like to think the evening was enjoyable for the both of us.

However, as good as it was, I'm really looking forward to seeing an honest-to-goodness opera (ie. NOT in English).  I'm telling you right now, even after the show I just attended, I must have stayed up till three in the morning listening to Puccini.

Maria Callas (Μαρία Κάλλας): Madame Butterfly

P.S.  Damn those awesome black dresses and my absent friggin' suit.

I even forgot to add a title to the post

So, I thought to myself, "Hey, I haven't written on the 'ol blog in a while.  I should post something."  After which, I was at a complete loss of what to post.  Then it hit me like a slippery fish.  I should relate the life lesson that I learned just yesterday!  So, here goes:

Rob's (sadly) Unforgettable Life Lesson #461:
It doesn't matter if they are joking or not; when an 18 year old girl says she wants to be your sugar-momma, it will always be highly disturbing, uncomfortable, and yet still funny (but never an option).

And that's an important life lesson.  You're welcome.

Delayed detonation

So, a long time ago some friends and I went out to "the island" to end the service lives of several computers.  This was so long ago that I had nearly forgot about it.  But then, ages later, I finally got the video evidence of the destructive mayhem in highlight reel form, all for your enjoyment.  It's best watched in full screen, so you can be on the lookout a giant chunk of aluminum goes airborne, flying hard to the left on the last one we destroy.  I wish we had the camera in our hands, so we could show how far that sucker actually flew.  It went far enough that we thought it was going to hook around the side of the hill!  Also, be forewarned some of my friends use more colorful language than I...

Now that we are getting to that time of year where it's a bit more likely that pansies are willing to stay outside for more than a few minutes, we may be going out to enjoy such shenanigans again soon.

Couch potato nutrition facts

So, after a considerable time of being fed up with some of the shows I was watching, they having fooled me into thinking that they are were not full of fail, I have moved to somewhat greener pastures.  Sons of derp was one that especially upset me, because of the ridiculous inaccuracies (or bold faced lies), and the pathetic focus on drama.  Now though, I believe that the show American Guns has actually filled the void left by my disappointment in sons of derp.  Despite a few historical mistakes, American Guns is much more informative, enjoyable, while at the same time has much less drama.  It's a win-win so far.
Check it out, they aren't complete morons!

Also, I happened to stumble upon an interesting little movie called Tomorrow When the War Began.  I heard that it was like a Aussie version of Red Dawn and had to check it out.  So, how does it compare?  Well, although the premises are quite similar, they go about telling their stories in much different ways, with different goals in mind.  Red Dawn is at it's heart, a movie that focuses on the action (of course), and the hardship of war and deterioration of friendship/humanity.  Whereas, with this film, it focuses more on the how the lives of these teens had changed and how they progress and adapt into being less stupid, I suppose.  Bottom line: it's a pretty good flick, just a little slow at times, and with characters bordering on learning disorders.

Old news

So, a few eons ago (in internet terms), there was some hubbub about the Arsenal Double Barrel 1911.  I could go into detail about just how conflicted I was about the whole thing, but I think this will perfectly describe my feelings on it:
