One thing I love to do is poke around abandoned areas. Visiting ghost towns, doing some urban exploration, or just checking out that closed gas station on the side of the interstate. It could just be my morbid curiosity mixing with my love of history, but it's something that gets me intrigued. The only problem is that I live in a place that doesn't have a lot of abandoned urban locales, and being low on cash all the time, I can't drive to many ghost towns lately. Thank goodness for the internet! Here's a few of my favorite websites that satisfy that little urge to see some structural decay.
http://www.opacity.us/ - centered around the photography aspect of urban exp.
http://www.infiltration.org/abandoned.html - with an emphasis on places you aren't allowed to be...
http://www.lostamerica.com/ - another photographer's website
http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/kiddofspeed/index.html - Elena Filatova's website. Somewhat controversial history and legality of what she's got.
http://www.abandoned-britain.com/ - for those across the pond
So, happy hunting and enjoy the sights!
