Because I can't seem to come up with any of the stuff that qualifies as the chewy, caramel, center of this blog, and it's been over a week since I posted any music, here's some fluff that I found posted over at Theo Spark that I thought was somewhat topical with recent events and whatnot.

Speaking of lead delivery...

I had the nice opportunity to shoot a couple of guns I've wanted to for some time now.  I was hopping down to the neighborhood Impact Guns, and managed to get my hands on a Tangfolio 10mm:

I was incredibly impressed with the accuracy, crisp trigger, and wonderfully ergonomic grip.  It had some very fine target sights that you had to take your time with, but I wasn't really in any kind of rush.
Then, I got my greasy paws on a USP Compact in .40 Short & Weak

Both are very nice guns, but after some extended playtime, I noticed one thing I didn't like about the USP.  It has a polymer trigger, which wouldn't bother me if it hadn't felt like it slightly bended under pressure.  I suppose it's possible that it's just an oddly shaped trigger, but I swear that it was bending as I squeezed it.  Not a fan of triggers that aren't perfectly solid. 

Then I ended the day by blowing off some .45 from the Glock 36.  A pretty good day, but my performance in shot placement and consistency wasn't anything to be proud of.  At least not my two handed shooting, anyways.  For some inexplicable reason, I shot better with one hand than with two, and that never happens to me.  Weird.

Yep.  That's right. another game post.  Just saw the new trailer for The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.  If you're as nerdy as I am, you'll watch.  Yes, do my bidding...watch it, you simpletons!  Bwhahahaha!!!!

Oxymoronic Gaming

Rant time.  Well, I'll just say, that being an overweight, single, white guy with glasses, in his 20's, it's a given that I'd be pretty big into PC games.  Dare I say, I'm a gamer.

Now, what puzzles me, is that I've had numerous conversations with other people that are like-minded, but a lot of them seem to share one interesting caveat.   A lot of people I have talked to don't seem to like open-world games!  What in the heck?  How could someone not like the idea of a virtual world to play in, unless it has stiff train tracks to ride along?  Doesn't that defeat the point of the very evolution of video games in general?  I just don't understand at all how someone cannot enjoy just being plopped into a living, breathing, completely open world, and have complete freedom in a game.  Do they need to have someone holding their hand all day?  I wanted to know why this is...

Well, the visit from the family was awesome.  Had a load of fun, they also brought a bunch of junk I left down there, and to top it off, I convinced them to name the new dog "Breda" (double entendre!).  Now I just gotta figure out what the heck I'm gonna do with all the 25-06 and .300 win mag I got laying around here.

barely failing

So, some months ago there was some buzz about the South Koreans developing an automated gun turret that will assess and engage targets all on its own, that they made to patrol the 38th parallel.  The news this week, is that they are actually going to make them operational, installing them along the DMZ.

As cool as the thought of completely autonomous turrets are, I think it's a pretty stupid idea to actually use them there.  Here's why:  These turrets only have a limited ability to identify threats without human involvement, so what if these things end up blowing away a North Korean that is attempting to defect?  Not only that, but what good are these things gonna be if crap actually hits the fan?  The Norks have enough artillery massed within range of that border, that it'll make Hiroshima look like a bad fart, so why bother?  last but not least, their relationship with each other ain't even crappy at best, so why try to provoke each other by slapping thousands of erector-set guns across the border?

So, South Korea, not to say that the leadership of the Norks isn't worth smearing across the pavement, but for heaven's sake at least try to make it look like you thought this crap through.

My train of thought

Just derailed into an embankment.  I swear I had something good to post, but I totally just forgot it.  So, in leiu of actual content from me, here's a new product that was recently announced that will revolutionize the way we think of Saiga picatinny rail systems.
